Trip to Japan

I'd love to go spend a week to 10 days in Japan. I have a friend who will be there until Sept 2013 who has offered to be guide and translator. Costs: airfare, ~$1400. hotel/meals/etc: $1000-1500. expensive, I don't expect this but it would be nice!
