  • Engine Overhall (01/05/14)

'Phira is back in commission but she ran up quite the bill at the doc's. Nearly $2500!

  • Tires

I go through at least one set of tires per year. My current rubber of choice are the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 UHPS' in a 205-50-15 size so this is pretty much an open fund, haha.

  • New Wheels

An alternative (or addition for mounting high-end performance tires) to refurbishing the OEM wheels, The 92 is part of Enkei's new "Classic" product line which includes a 15x7" size that fits the Miata perfectly.

  • Refurbished Wheels

Just like the New Paint wish, not something on my mind just now. More of a future expense. The STO Edition came with 15x6" Enkei 5-spoke wheels. These retail new from suppliers for $400+ but restoring undamaged ones costs substantially less.

  • Frog Arms

The last piece of the puzzle when it comes to stiffening up the chassis. With this, the butterfly, the tower brace and a roll bar you pretty much have as stiff a Miata as you're going to get without seam-welding or a full cage

  • Flyin' Miata Butterfly Brace

Probably one of the best products ever made for the Miata. Like most old roadsters, the MX-5 suffers from poor chassis rigidity and in particular, soft steel frame rails. This fixes it.

  • New Paint

Not really something I plan on dealing with until the engine is sorted but about a year ago what turned out to be a (very) cheap respray of clear started flaking off. I want to have her stripped, un-dented and repainted the original Twilight Blue Mica

  • Flyin' Miata Shock Tower Brace

Okay, so the Miata's double wishbone suspension means that lateral loads on the towers are nothing like cheaper strut-types, but there's still that big space between the fenders. This fixes it.

  • Racing Beat 4:1 Header

In my research, probably the best header available for the Miata. Since I'm not planning a turbo for this car its a good part that will compliment the high-flow catalyst and exhaust system

  • RoadsterSport Catalytic Converter

'Phira's old cat is pretty much a cooked goose at this point. With 17 years under her belt now plus a recently-discovered ignition problem the catalyst is done. Once the engine is running well again though, the exhaust is in my crosshairs.

  • Roadstersport3 Cat-Back Exhaust

One of the best classic-type exhausts available for the NA Miata, the Roadstersport has gone through multiple generations, finally arriving at this example which features a full oval muffler, polished mid pipe & swappable insert for different sound levels
